On May 13th just after 5:00 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP were called to a residence at 82nd Avenue and 97th Street.  Reportedly, suspects had forcibly entered a residence, allegedly assaulted the 68 year old man and left after taking money and other items.  The assailants fled the scene in a silver vehicle.   The victim was located outside of the residence suffering from facial injuries and was transported to hospital.  He continues to recover from injuries sustained.

Later that night at approximately 10:00 p.m., police were called to a residence on Hillcrest Drive on a different matter, where the suspect vehicle from the earlier break and enter was located.  Upon entering the residence, RCMP identified the occupants as suspects from the incident earlier in the evening.  The three were subsequently arrested, charged and remanded in custody until their next court appearance on May 23, 2012.

Remembering the Slave Lake Fires

The town of Slave Lake, still rebuilding after tragic fires that happened a year ago changing many peoples lives.

We would like to also remember the men from the La Crete Fire Department, Ed Froese, Phillip Krahn and Will Reimer that helped with the fires for a week in time of desperate need!

The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees recently won a Rosie award this weekend. The award was for their documentary “Loss and Hope” which documents the Slave Lake wildfires a year ago. Vice President Glenn Scott, mentioned that people should be reminded what struggles the people of Slave Lake faced and continue to face as they continue to rebuild.

M – O – T – H – E – R
M” is for the million things she gave me,
O” means only that she’s growing old,
T” is for the tears she shed to save me,
H” is for her heart of purest gold;
E” is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
R” means right, and right she’ll always be,
Put them all together, they spell
MOTHER,”
